The UN projects that global human population will surpass 9.2 billion by the year 2050. Many sustainability advocates are wondering why educators, politicians, and the mainstream media are having a bad case of “population amnesia,” as they fail to consider how food, water, housing, jobs and education can be made available to an additional 3 billion people in a mere 40 years. On March 25, 2009, PMC President, Bill Ryerson was interviewed on Uganda 93.3 KFM, Uganda’s #1 radio station that offers its listeners news and entertainment. The issue of population and its impact on Uganda were discussed.

On October 8, 2008, Bob Engleman was interviewed by Diego Mulligan on KSFR FM which broadcasts throughout Santa Fe, New Mexico, as a part of Population Media Center’s Population News Media Strategy.

PMC developed this program in the United States to place population experts and ecological economists on talk shows and news interviews in order to better inform the American people about population issues and the ramifications of continued population growth. Students at a college in Burlington, Vermont are working on a project allowing them a chance to travel internationally, create a new concept for video games and work with the United Nations. WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more.
