STORY LINE
The story starts when Sean “Speng” Davison, Shotta Land’s would-be area Don, holds a dance to celebrate the newly formed peace between Shepard’s Town and Paradise Pines. But the peace will not last long…
During the dance, against the orders of the real Don, the mysterious Fadda Shado, Speng’s henchmen, Papsy and Daawghead, capture a shipment of cocaine passing through Gullyside, and a shoot-out ensues. This triggers a series of events that sends 21 year-old Steve, Speng’s half-brother, into hiding.
Outta Road is largely the story of four characters:
- Steve struggles between the forces of good and evil. Steve is drawn toward his half brother, Speng’s ways, but he also is trying to do the right thing by helping to support his mother (who is a single mom) and younger sister.
- Malachi is a 16 year old high school football star. Malachi struggles with poverty and pride, in a world where everyone is convinced he came from nothing and is nothing.
- Kirk deals with issues of sex and sexuality. He engages in high profile prostitution, and eventually AIDS comes knocking on his door.
- Fifteen year-old Tia had dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, she becomes sexually active at young age, and finds her dreams of being a nurse blindsided by pregnancy and abuse.
