In 2005, with the help of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), PMC produced a 120-episode radio serial drama entitled Sa Pagiskat Ng Araw (”The Hope After the Dawn”). The drama addressed issues relating to reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, women’s empowerment and youth health.

The serial drama had four intersecting story lines addressing each of these issues. Initially, the story line on women’s empowerment, involving the physical abuse of a woman by her husband, was not the central issue PMC had planned to focus on. However, in evaluating the results of the serial drama, we found that the theme of gender-based violence resonated strongly with the target population.
