The Communications Manager will work closely with the Vice President of Communications and Programs and other staff to carry out various communications activities for PMC. These will include overseeing PMC’s and affiliate websites, creating and/or developing promotional videos and materials on PMC’s work, assisting country directors with design and outreach materials related to PMC’s in country programs, working in coordination with staff on online outreach, writing and designing of all of PMC’s communications materials, assisting with media outreach, and working with PMC’s Director of Development to align our communications and fundraising strategies.


* Research, write, and edit annual report, quarterly newsletters, monthly enewsletters, progress reports, brochures, promotional videos, and web site content (in collaboration with program staff and the Director of Communications). Coordinate and lead publication and distribution.

* Coordinate design and produce all external communication materials in collaboration with the Vice President of Communications and Programs.
* Oversee the organizational image and brand and ensure consistency in presentation of that brand in PMC offices throughout the world.
* Promote PMC by writing and distributing press releases and articles to media outlets and booking media interviews and speaking opportunities for appropriate PMC personnel.
* Develop and manage a strategic communications plan to grow PMC’s brand and support base.
* Create and maintain database of national and international media contacts and cultivate relationships with same.
* Assist with external communications.
* Develop and maintain a photo, audio, and video repository and database of all of PMC’s work.
* Assist and/or lead with design and implementation of new media initiatives.
* Develop and build relationships with professionals in broadcasting and other media, in population, family planning and related social and reproductive health issues, social science research, government agencies, and international organizations.
* Keep abreast of literature on current events, media, population, and international development issues.


* A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social science, public health, communications, or related field.
* Commitment to global population stabilization and related social and health goals.
* Experience traveling desirable.
* Ability to work with a variety of people of different cultures.
* Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Ability to handle multiple detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision and work well with a group.
* Computer proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Social Networks, Web Design.
* Experience with CSS, HTML, databases, and other programming languages desirable.
* Knowledge of principles of design.
