Albemarle’s Comprehensive Plan: Not everything we need
Albemarle County is in the home stretch of a complete update of its Comprehensive Plan. This plan identifies key land use and other issues the county expects to face in the next 20 years. It also spells out strategies for dealing with foreseen needs.
In recent decades, Albemarle County often has displayed interest in and support for environmental protection. Beginning in the 1990s, Albemarle County participated in the Thomas Jefferson Sustainability Council, established the Acquisition of Conservation Easements program to protect open spaces, and committed strongly in its Comprehensive Plan to protect its biological resources.
