HIV/AIDS is one of the leading killers in the world - and it's preventable. Population Media Center works to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and improve the lives of those infected.

The World Health Organization reports that 78 million people have been infected with HIV/AIDS and 39 million people around the world have died since the epidemic began. Twenty-five million children are expected to have been orphaned due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic by this year. Millions of people with high risk behaviors don’t want to be tested. They may not know about treatment options or they may be afraid of public ridicule if they test positive. Others don’t know what constitutes risky behavior and what they can do to protect themselves. These are scenarios we can change, protecting lives.Population Media Center (PMC) dramas feature storylines that address a myriad of HIV/AIDS issues, such as how to prevent transmission between sexual partners, how to prevent transmission from mothers to babies, and how to prevent discrimination by removing unfounded fears like explaining that it’s safe to buy fruit from someone with HIV/AIDS.
