25 Years Addressing Population Growth: Impact of the ICPD's Cairo Consensus.

This July marks the 25th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). Seeking to address issues associated with rising population numbers, in 1994 the ICPD adopted its seminal Programme of Action, also known as the Cairo Consensus.

For over two decades, the Cairo Consensus has served as a key guide for multiple areas of international development related to health and human rights. We’ve taken a look at the Consensus to discuss areas of strength, room for improvement, and how PMC uses Consensus strategies to address unsustainable population growth.
