Recipient of numerous international honors such as the Crafoord Prize in Population Biology and Conservation of Biological Diversity, the MacArthur Prize Fellowship, and the United Nations Environment Programme Sasakawa Environment Prize. Author of more than 1000 scientific papers and articles and more than 45 books, he is best known for his ground-breaking volume The Population Bomb released in 1968. His 2008 book, The Dominant Animal: Human Evolution and the Environment, deals with human cultural and biological evolution
