Intsika/Isithunzi Siyalandela

South Africa

PMC provided a PMC training to support the production of Isithunzi Siyalandela or Intsika (“The Shadow that Walks with You”), a TV serial drama produced in South Africa. This training took place in February 2010.

PMC was asked by Ochre Moving Pictures to work with the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) to provide a training in PMC’s methodology for writers of the TV serial drama Isithunzi Siyalandela or Intsika to more successfully build on a previous program. The series aired April 2011 through September 2011 on SABC 1. SABC’s previous program, Mthunzi wentaba (“Under the Shadow of the Mountain”), had addressed some social issues and was very popular, but it was also controversial, which was what spurred them to request PMC’s help. The drama addressed many issues common to PMC, such as reproductive health, women’s empowerment, and gender-based violence, as well as other issues including leadership and corruption.
