The Stories We Tell Right Now Will Determine What Rights Survive

Harmful narratives and traditional practices persevere and misinformation about sexual and reproductive health is spreading faster, reaching farther, and doing more damage than ever before – ranging from algorithm-driven anti-contraception campaigns to coordinated movements repackaging submissive gender roles as empowerment.

PMC works at the intersection of research, entertainment, and advocacy to fight back: translating evidence into narratives that counter disinformation, protect rights, and shift culture.

Why Entertainment?

The fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights is a narrative fight — and right now, the other side is telling better stories. Entertainment shapes what billions of people believe, accept, and act on. It’s also what they’re choosing: audiences consistently reward authentic, issue-driven storytelling with massive viewership and commercial success. That makes entertainment the single most powerful — and most underused — tool for defending and advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) when you have the right approach behind it.

How We Work

As a research-backed creative partner, we have worked alongside writers, producers, and showrunners for decades to ground entertainment in credible evidence and lived experience — making storylines more authentic, more resonant, and more impactful.

At the same time, we partner with sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) experts and organizations to connect audiences with new narratives and trusted resources at the moment a story moves them to act — turning massive viewership into real-world impact.

Creators get stories that land harder. SRHR partners get accurate information in front of the people who need it most. And audiences get both great entertainment and a path to the resources that can change their lives.

Entertainment Partners

We’ve had the honor of working with extraordinary entertainment partners who know that stories grounded in real experience resonate — and that when authenticity drives both impact and success, everyone wins.

“Stories break the silence and lead our audience to hope, change, and a new, brighter future. I’m enthusiastic about partnering with PMC because they believe, as I do, that stories and new narratives can change lives and they have their own methodology of mixing entertainment with real, measurable impact.”

– Rosy Ocampo, Director of Innovation and Executive Producer at TelevisaUnivision

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Partners

We’ve had the honor of working with hundreds of SRHR partners who want to reach people that traditional health communications can’t — and at scale. When a storyline moves someone to think differently, they deserve a clear path to accurate information and trusted resources.

“We don’t do this work alone, and we shouldn’t. The SRHR organizations we partner with bring the expertise, the resources, and the trust that turn a powerful moment on screen into action in someone’s life. Elevating their work is why we’re here.”

– Natalia Cereser, PMC VP of International Programs

Supporters

We’ve had the honor of working with hundreds of supporters who know that the fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights will be won or lost in the stories people see, hear, and share. They invest in PMC because narratives don’t just reflect culture — they shape it.
