Population Media Center works every day around the world to strengthen and improve women’s and girls’ social status, self-determination, and autonomy.

Women and girls live in societies that are still deeply prejudiced against them. Millions of women around the world can’t read, have never been to a doctor’s office, and are not considered equal to their husbands. The need for change is obvious. In these situations, women and girls are denied basic education, have little ability to generate individual income, and their reproductive autonomy — including decisions about if and when to have children — is practically non-existent.

Our future depends on the future of women and girls around the world. It’s time we uplift, inspire, and encourage gender equity from every angle.
