BARNUSIETEHDEH! “LET’S DO THE RIGHT THING” IN LIBERIA

In a country shaped by resilience and hope, Liberia’s story continues to unfold—one rooted in healing, unity, and the promise of transformation.

In 2023, Population Media Center (PMC) and Talking Drum Studio (TDS) launched Barnusietehdeh!—a 156-episode radio show whose name means “Let’s Do the Right Thing.” With support from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), this multimedia campaign was more than a broadcast—it was a call to action. For 1.5 years, across all 15 counties of Liberia, the airwaves filled with characters who sounded familiar, faced challenges that hit close to home, and made choices that mirrored real life. Listeners weren’t just entertained—they were seen.

FROM MEXICO TO UNITED STATES TELEVISION: PAPÁS POR CONVENIENCIA BRINGS ENTERTAINMENT WITH IMPACT TO UNIVISION

After captivating millions of viewers each night in Mexico and outpacing its prime-time competition by more than 1.5 million people per night, the hit telenovela Papás Por Conveniencia (“Family of Convenience”) had its U.S. debut on Univision in January.

Created by acclaimed producer Rosy Ocampo in collaboration with Population Media Center (PMC), Papás Por Conveniencia uses the power of storytelling to shine a light on some of today’s most pressing social issues: teen pregnancy, sexual and gender-based violence, sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive health.

STORIES SPARK CHANGE IN ZAMBIA: INNOVALAB PROJECTS SHOW REAL RESULTS

Zambia is home to rich traditions, strong communities, and vibrant voices —as well as complex social challenges that continue to effect families, youth, and health systems every day. Early marriage, teenage pregnancy, HIV, and gender-based violence remain deeply rooted in norms and silence. For PMC and its team at PMC-Zambia, the question was clear: How do we shift the stories people tell— and believe —about what’s possible?

From 2023 to 2025, PMC-Zambia answered that call through InnovaLab, PMC’s innovation engine for testing bold new approaches to social change. Across three provinces—Copperbelt, Southern, and Eastern—PMC launched immersive, locally led storytelling pilots that didn’t just educate. They transformed.
