Four Stars for Four Years: PMC Receives Highest Rating for Fourth Consecutive Year
SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT – On February 1, 2016, Charity Navigator announced that for the fourth consecutive year Population Media Center (PMC) has been awarded the coveted 4-star rating, the top distinction from America’s largest independent charity evaluator.
“Only nine percent of the charities we rate have received at least four consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Population Media Center outperforms most other charities in America,” says Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Population Media Center from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In addition to fiscal responsibility, in 2011 Charity Navigator added metrics about governance, ethical practices, and measures of openness. These “Accountability & Transparency” metrics account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating today.
“This Charity Navigator rating confirms our commitment to accountability and transparency,” says Paul Ugalde, PMC’s Director of Development, “and assures donors that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly. To date, we’ve helped more than half a billion people around the world live healthier lives.”
