#GETREEL And Get Involved!
On September 12, Population Media Center (PMC) will kick-off our first ever Annual Campaign. This inaugural effort will be called the #GETREEL Campaign: an exciting, multi-media, multi-channel effort to educate and advocate on behalf of women and girls. With support from our PMC Board of Directors, staff members, and our global team of volunteers, we will raise $200,000 over a six-week period. Contact us if you would like to learn more or get involved.
It’s time to #GETREEL about what women and girls around the world are facing. And it’s time to #GETREEL about what we can do to create dramatic change.
PMC works around the world, promoting improvements in the health and well-being of people and planet, through use of entertainment. Since 1998, we have developed unparalleled expertise in using social and behavior change communications to support social and environmental progress. Our work has directly impacted millions of people in more than 50 countries, each of them confronting unique and critical challenges.
Our entertaining TV and radio shows empower women and young girls across the globe, but we are not talking about boring public service announcements. PMC creates entertaining dramas – dramatic, popular, tantalizing stories on TV, radio and internet. We weave many compelling issues into our storylines, but focus primarily on women’s health and reproductive rights, gender equity and environmental preservation. Our intervention produces both immediate and long-term benefits.
In order to continue pursuing our vital mission across the globe, and to withstand the financial cutbacks we are facing due to the changing political landscape in the U.S., PMC is launching a series of bold informational and fundraising initiatives. If we are to help people understand the real issues women and girls face, maintain financial stability, and grow our impact, PMC must increase its unrestricted funding base. The first part of this effort is telling the story. We must #GETREEL about the realities that need to be changed and we must #GETREEL about how PMC and its supporters improve the lives of women and girls. It’s time to #GetReelForGirls and #GetReelForWomen.
